Location: Eby Centre

Summary of services: Referrals are accepted from therapists, physicians, and social workers. Child must have a documented developmental delay or special need.

• Delay must be either: 1 year delay in one area of development or 6 month delay in 2 or more areas of development.
• Program provides direct educator support in a 1:1 or 1:2 or 1:3 or 1:4 ratio depending on children’s and childcare settings need.
• Educator support provided in all regulated childcare settings in Terrace and area.
• Consultation about strategies for assisting specific children is available.
• Information on general child development is provided to childcare settings.
• Loans of toys, equipment and educational resources available.

Principles of program: Family Centered; Shared Responsibility; Child Development; Evidence-based practice; Reflective of and responsive to diversity.

Catchment area: Terrace and immediate area.

Caseload limit: Approximately 20 children age 3 – 5 for direct Educator support. Consultation and training is available to all local regulated childcare settings.

Criteria for acceptance: Child has a documented special need or developmental delay and requires support in a child care setting

Funder: Ministry of Children and Family Development

New funding has arrived to assist families with children between the ages of 6 and 12.  This funding may assist children in child care either before or after school, on Fridays, or during the summer months.

All Centre programs are voluntary.
